Bright Character Art for Picture Books by Illustrator Kate Pellerin

Time to dive into the lively and vibrant art of picture books for kids, always filled with magic, fun, and adventures. Welcome to meet another artist in our gallery, Kate Pellerin, a Canadian illustrator and picture books artist. Since her childhood, she has had an active imagination and enjoyed making out stories. So over the years, she has turned this passion into the creative and joyful job of an illustrator breathing life into adventurous books and whimsical characters.

As Kate mentions on her website, her interest in drawing began with simple character designs and props inspired by dreams or folklore, yet, she quickly fell in love with the idea of illustrating picture books for young children because that’s a field of endless possibilities in storytelling. She studied for three years at the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) and also completed a Diploma at Seneca College for the Illustration program, specializing in picture book illustrations. Currently, she is an instructor at Seneca College, who also does freelance illustration projects, working on vibrant illustrations for books, magazines, TV shows, and finally, her Instagram and Twitter pages, where she’s known under the nickname Poopikat.

Here we’ve collected some of her lovely works, following traditional art techniques; enjoy and catch the fairytale vibes!
